Modernizing a Content Marketing Agency with Kadence & Gutenberg

Challenge

The existing website no longer represented the agency’s positioning.

It was visually outdated, content was limited, and the structure lacked the flexibility required for a growing content driven business.

The client supplied a new design that included several non standard layout and interaction elements, which could not be achieved using theme options alone.

Approach

I rebuilt the website using Gutenberg with the Kadence theme as a lightweight foundation.

Core layouts were handled natively through Gutenberg to ensure long term maintainability. For design elements beyond Kadence’s default capabilities, I implemented targeted custom code, allowing precise design execution without compromising performance or editor usability.

This approach balanced design accuracy, speed, and future scalability.

Takeaway

This project demonstrates my ability to translate complex design systems into efficient, scalable WordPress builds using Gutenberg, extending the theme only where necessary to maintain quality and performance.
